About Semafore Pharmaceuticals

Semafore Pharmaceuticals is developing small molecule signal transduction inhibitors, which are designed to block signals passed from one molecule to another inside a cell. Blocking these signals can affect many functions of the cell, including cell division and cell death, and may kill cancer cells.

The word semaphore relates to a system or apparatus for signaling by means of moveable arms, lights or hand-held flags and it derives from the Greek words sēma (signal) and phoros (carrying). The four semaphore flags displayed alongside the company's logo each represent a letter of the alphabet that spells "hope," which relates to Semafore Pharmaceuticals' goal of Helping Oncology Patients Everyday.
